Jesuit map of the Great Lakes.

Reproduction of a map of the Great Lakes area by Jesuits. Noted on the map are locations of Indigenous communities and Jesuit missions between the Mississippi river and Lake Ontario. Features of note on the map include the name of Lakes Michigan and Superior (given here as Lakes Illinois and Tracy respectively) as well as a note about the presence of a European settlement in the South East, and of a European ship at the mouth of the Albany River, as well as the building of a fort and house likely by employees of the Hudson's Bay Company.
