This ledger contains Tobias Schantz's business and personal accounts for the period 1866-1869. Empty space in the ledger has been filled in between 1917 and 1922 with Tobias' orders taken for nursery stock from E.D. Smith Co., from J.N. Wismer, Nurseryman, Port Elgin, and from Brown Brothers Company, for all of whom he acted as an agent. He includes the name, address and varieties of plant stock ordered. This ledger documents how people lived their daily lives and what money was spent on.

One small leather-bound booklet with inscription "From J.N. Moyer to his Nephew Orpheus Moyer Schantz, Campden, Lincoln Co., Ont., 5th April, 1869. This booklet is the "annual circular" of the Cochran Co. and alternates blank pages with a catalogue of dry goods carried. Orpheus Schantz began to use this as a drawing book in 1878, and it contains drawings in pencil of animals both domestic and foreign, each signed and dated.
