Series consists of photographs, most of which were accumulated by Martha Rieder, with some accumulated by Talmon Henry Rieder and some probably by Margaret Paisley and Paul Rieder. Photographs relate predominantly to multiple generations of the Anthes and Rieder families and include formal and informal family portraits, snapshots of family and friends, and snapshots taken while visiting cottages in the Penetanguishene area.

Other subjects include: Martha and her friends at Ontario Ladies College, business associates of Talmon, the Dominion Tire Company, the Anthes Manufacturing Company, Zion Evangelical Church events and groups, the Kitchener Natatorium, and other subjects. Many photographs from the period 1895-1906 were taken and possibly developed by Martha Rieder.

Series contains eight portraits (plus two duplicates) by Notman & Son, Montreal, all of which are in very good condition; and many portraits by James Esson of Preston. Includes loose photographs, photograph albums, and negatives.

Series consists of documents relating to land transactions. Most materials document the ownership history of the property consisting of Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4, and in particuar Lot 3, on the south (or west) side of Ahrens Street and the north side of Weber Street in David Weber's survey in the town of Berlin (now Kitchener); this property contained the Anthes home at 44 Weber Street and the Rieder home at 58 Roy Street.

Also present are documents relating to other land in Berlin as well as land in the Township of Wilmot, the Town of Moberly, and the District of Parry Sound. Series includes mortgages, deeds and certificates of ownership, abstracts from the Registry Office (Berlin), invoices, etc.

File consists of 26 manuscript letters from Rev. Jacob Anthes of Carrick [township], then Port Elgin, then Sebringville, Ontario, to his parents Martin and Catharina Anthes of Baden, Ontario. Some letters include envelopes; stamps have been removed. File also includes one unidentified letter; an agreement [?] signed by Rev. Anthes, Glenlyon, Bruce Co.; and invoices, one for Martin Anthes' account at a store in New Hamburg signed by Jacob [Niebel?].

File consists of an abstract from the Registry Office in Berlin of all records pertaining to Lot 2 on the north side of Weber Street and Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the south side of Ahrens Street of David Weber's survey of the Town of Berlin. The first entry in 1798 shows R. Beasley, J. Wilson, and J.B. Rosseau as the grantor and D.W. Smith, W. Claus, and A. Stewart as the grantee; the last entry in 1865 shows David Weber as the grantor and Jacob Hess as the grantee.

Other names appearing on the abstract are: Joseph Brant, Dan Erb and Jacob Erb, Benjamin Eby, and Frederick Gaukel.

Some of the latter material relates to the administration and eventual sale of the Anthes Furniture Company. File consists of an abstract from the Registry Office in Berlin of all records pertaining to Lot 3 on the north side of Weber Street and west of Queen Street in David Weber's survey of the Town of Berlin. The first entry is in 1798 showing Richard Beasley, James Wilson, and John Baptiste Rosseau as the grantor and David William Smith, William Claus, and Alexander Stewart as the grantee; the last entry is in 1873 showing Catherine Hachborn [et mar?] as the grantor and William Walrond as the grantee.

File consists of four ribbons collected by the Rieder Anthes family. Two are campaign ribbons showing support for Sir Oliver Mowat, premier of Ontario. One is a mourning ribbon for Queen Victoria and one is a ribbon of support for Canadian troops in the Second Boer War. The Boer War ribbon has been stamped "J.I. Frank Anthes Nov. 5 1900."

File consists of a keepsake box and sewing kit received by Martha Rieder for Christmas, 1892, from John and Carrie Breithaupt. Box is red velvet with a painting of two birds on the top (painting cracked and flaking off in some places). Contents of the box include: sewing kit items (needle case, needle, hook, thimble, etc.), pin cushion for displaying trinkets, 2 trinkets (birch bark canoe, souvenir of [?] tower), small paper fan with painting of matador and bull, mother of pearl bottle with decorative metal trim and cork stopper (scent flask?), clam shells attached with metal hinges and painted with flowers (souveinr of Niagara Falls [?]; paint flaking off; containing some type of fragrant material?),
*red velvet coin purse with leather interior containing a miniature pocket knife and coins (5 cents Canadian 1902, 5 cents US 1895, 25 cents US 1895).
