Consists of a ts. (thermograph) Province of Upper Canada act entitled "An Act to Incorporate a Joint Stock Company to improve the navigation of the Grand River,"(Grand River Navigation Act) dated November 18, 1837.

Grand River Conservation Authority Library

The Grand River Conservation Authority Library was donated in 2005, accompanying the archival records of the Authority and its predecessors.

The Library was maintained at the GRCA headquarters for reference and research use and consists of works by and about the GRCA, including both internal and external reports and studies, periodicals, and monographs.

Unpublished library items are described as part of the GRCA archives while published items are catalogued as print material and are listed in the library catalogue.

Also contains slides relating to GRCA water management and land use programs and general topics such as conservation techniques, educational programs and the Grand Valley Conservation Foundation.

The slides are organized topically in hanging pages. A ts. listing of the slide collection by topic including alphabetical codes to the storage system is included. The slides are in no particular order within each topical section; some of the slides are not present.

Series consists of binders of negatives and contact strips: 14 numbered volumes contain 596 pages, each page holding seven 6-frame strips of 35 mm negatives. On the front of each sleeve is taped the corresponding 35 mm contact strip (page 596 contains only 1 strip). One unnumbered volume contains negatives in a variety of sizes. Includes an index maintained on rolodex cards.

Three copy prints: one of construction machinery clearing the lake bed, one a group photograph of six men with a construction trailer[?] behind, and one of two men in a doorway, labelled Russell Faulkner, Sandy MacDonald. Includes 16 copy negatives, one dated 1939 of the GRCC members at Shand Dam, 1939, the others dated 1956 and 1957 of the Conestogo Dam construction.

Series consists of 8mm and 16mm films accumulated by, and produced for the Grand River Conservation Authority. The majority of these films have been transferred to videocassette and DVD, which are also found in the GRCA fonds. Also contains masters and working prints of a number of films produced for the Grand River Conservation Authority by Summit Film Productions. These films depict scenes along the Lower, Mid and Upper Grand; dam construction outside Guelph, Ontario; GRCA conservation areas; and also contain footage of Grand River flooding.
