G. Elmore Reaman fonds.

Fonds consists of material relating to the life and career of George Elmore Reaman. His position as superintendent of the Bowmanville Training School for Boys and later of the Glen Lawrence School is represented by clippings, photographs and ephemera. His interest in a wide variety of topics, including psychology, education, agriculture and history are represented by correspondence, research files and manuscripts. Typescripts of two unpublished novels "What Sorrow Beyond Sorrows" and "Strangers on the Earth" are also present. Fonds is arranged in eight series as follows:

This work was described by Reaman in a letter (27 April 1942 File 12) to Lorne Pierce of the Ryerson Press as follows "everything about it is true to life as it was lived in York County and other districts mentioned during the period 1900-1911."

File consists of ts. scripts of a series of 12 radio shows called "Psychologically Speaking," by G.E. Reaman and Helen Sangster, described as a "noted feature writer," that aired on an unnamed radio station. The show's format was an informal discussion as to the psychological reasons for certain news events of the week.

File consists of correspondence to and from G. Elmore Reaman during his tenure as the first Canadian president of the International Platform Association, a non-profit organization for promoting to the public "high grade platform presentations." (Flyer, ca. 1950). The correspondence is mostly to and from other members and is concerned with internal affairs of the organization. Includes two letters from John Diefenbaker dated Nov. 3, 1949 and Jan. 28, 1950. Also includes a small amount of ephemera from individual artists.
