Grand River Conservation Authority Library

The Grand River Conservation Authority Library was donated in 2005, accompanying the archival records of the Authority and its predecessors.

The Library was maintained at the GRCA headquarters for reference and research use and consists of works by and about the GRCA, including both internal and external reports and studies, periodicals, and monographs.

Unpublished library items are described as part of the GRCA archives while published items are catalogued as print material and are listed in the library catalogue.

The report concerns flood control measures for the Grand River basin and apportionment of provincial, federal and municipal fiscal responsibility.

Consists of a videocassette transfer of an 8 mm promotional film of Elora, Ontario by the Elora Chamber of Commerce. Includes scenes of local industries, railways and the Grand River.

Shand Dam construction / Hugh Templin.

Consists of a videocassette of 8 mm film footage of various phases of the construction of the Shand Dam and Lake Belwood, near Belwood, Ont. The footage was taken by Hugh Templin, a commissioner of the Grand River Conservation Commission and editor of the Fergus News Record.

Consists of a videocassette transfer of 8 mm. film footage of the construction of the Shand Dam, near Belwood, Ont and of the disembarking of HRH George VI and Queen Elizabeth, from the royal train at Guelph, Ont. in 1939. The film was made by Ron Muller.

Consists of videocassette transfer of a 16 mm movie of skiers at the Chicopee Ski Club, Kitchener, Ontario in the 1940s. According to information provided on the original GRCA box listing, the film was made by Norman Schneider and narration was added later by Herb Schneider, and Ralph Beaumont and Jim Bauer; of the Grand River Conservation Authority.

Consists of a videocassette transfer of edited film footage of Shand Dam near Belwood, Ont. during its construction and after its completion. Also appears to include scenes from the opening ceremony of the Shand Dam. The film was made by Hugh Templin, GRCA Commissioner and editor of the Fergus News Record, Fergus, Ont.
