Series contains leaflets relating to Homer Watson’s life and memorial exhibits. Leaflets contain information about memorial exhibits such as one held by the Waterloo Trust and Savings Company building in Kitchener. One of the leaflets also contains a photocopied sketch of a graveyard scene. The series also contains a typescript biography of Watson written by his friend, Ross Hamilton. Another typescript covers a speech by Watson to shareholders of the Waterloo County Grand River Park. The speech calls for the conservation of a woodland area called Cressman Bush.

Museum and Archives

Series consists of material relating to the development, organization, and operation of a company museum and archives. The museum was originally established in 1967 as a centennial project and part of the 60th anniversary celebration, in order to display products produced by Electrohome since 1907. John Koegler was the company historian and museum curator.

The museum as well as the company archives were given renewed attention in preparation for the company's 90th anniversary and the production of a corporate history book in 1997. At that time, William McGregor (former vice-president of Electrohome) was involved museum administration, and Nicola McLaughlin was hired to research company history and process and manage the archives.

Series includes material relating to the day-to-day operation of the museum and archives, the collection and processing of items, and the recording of historical information. Includes forms, correspondence, memoranda, press clippings, photocopies of historical advertisements and other documents, photographs and slides, ms. notes, meeting minutes, and other material.

Newsgirls edition and publication.

Materials accumulated or created by Donna Jean MacKinnon during the writing, edition, and publication of her book Newsgirls : gutsy pioneers in Canada’s newsrooms, published in 2017. Includes drafts of the book in different phases of its creation, as well as manuscript evaluations and chapters that were not included in the final version of the book. Also contains correspondence with editors and publishers, and records related to the publication and promotion of Newsgirls.
Materials document the evolution of the project from title selection (which began as Newsgirls : pre-Feminism in print journalism) and authorship (the first drafts included Catherine Smyth as author (reporter at the Toronto Star and communications specialist)), to the chapters included in the book. The first drafts of the book included chapters for twenty journalists, whereas the final version covered ten (for more information about the journalists covered, refer to the General Note in the notes section of this series).
Materials also document the process of final edition and publication taken on by MacKinnon and different persons at York University (most of the edition and publication tasks were performed by Leaping Lion Books are undertaken by students as part of course activities). Newsgirls was published in 2017 by Leaping Lion Books at York University and promoted in different events and venues.

Materials accumulated and created by Donna Jean MacKinnon during the research for her book Newsgirls : gutsy pioneers in Canada’s newsrooms, published in 2017. Includes photographs, newspaper materials, handwritten notes and audio interviews, database searches, contact information and correspondence, and drafts of chapters of Newsgirls (oftentimes, these drafts were sent to the subjects of the chapter for corrections).
For twenty years, MacKinnon researched women journalists of the Canadian 20th Century. During her research, she conducted interviews, accumulated articles written by and about the journalists, and performed other research activities (such as database searches and bibliographical reads). Over the years, Newsgirls varied considerably. As a result, Donna Jean MacKinnon accumulated or created materials for journalists that were not part of the final project (for more information about the journalists covered, refer to the General Note in the notes section of this series).

Curry in his role as Manager of the Electronic Products Division, and as a member of a committee for planning activities related to the official opening of the Electrohome plant on Wellington Street, Kitchener, in 1957. Series consists of material created and maintained by Hugh A. Cameron from 1942-1973, consisting primarily of daily journals recording details of work done by the writer and others, in the office, on GRCC property and at other locations: construction, repairs, machinery, inspections, incidents, weather conditions, etc. Also includes correspondence, reports, maps and plans, etc. relating to construction, repairs, equipment, forestry and logging and roads.

Series consists of environmental monitoring raw data in the form of anemograph charts (1955-1970), gauge cards (1955-1967), rainfall charts (1955-1959, 1971) and snow surveys (1963-1964). An anemograph chart is a paper record of the direction and force of the wind; gauge cards contain data recorded manually by gauge readers at gauge stations along the Grand River; rainfall charts contain daily entries recording rainfall; snow surveys consist of booklets containing pre-printed pages for entering snow data. Although this data is not complete it is nonetheless important for providing a means whereby climatic and environmental change over time can be analyzed.

Material relating to the factory and its manufacturing operations, belonging to Irvin E. Weber. According to secondary sources, Irvin E. Weber joined Kaufman in 1945. His father, Irvin K. Weber, had worked at Kaufman for 52 years, starting in 1909. Some of the material in this series belonged to Irvin K. Weber and subsequently to his son Irvin E. Weber. Includes much material, such as the compound sheets, that would have originated in the Laboratory, but concerned with ingredients and costs rather than formulae and mixing. Includes correspondence, ephemera, invoices, notes, memoranda, and clippings.
