Series consists primarily of issues of the newsletter produced by the association for its membership. The newsletter contains association reports, announcements of upcoming events and exhibitions, information and tips on art techniques and materials, reports from other art associations and organizations, advertisements, etc. Most issues also contain a list of the association executive and advisory directors. Series includes issues of the Five Counties Art Association Bulletin (1955-1964), Central Ontario Art Association Bulletin (1964-1970), and the Central Ontario Art Association Newsletter (1982-1998). Series also includes page proofs (i.e. before photocopying) of newsletter issues (1982-1998), correspondence and memoranda, brochures and flyers, photographs, and handwritten notes. It is not clear whether every issue of the newsletter produced is present in the series.

Series consists of records kept by Gordon Couling, charter member and first chair of the teachers' council executive, relating to the formation, administration, and activities of the COAA, mainly for the period from 1953 to 1960. Includes yearly files kept by Couling documenting the administration and activities of the association, as well as Couling's files relating to the annual Leader's Institute at the Macdonald Insitute in Guelph, offered by the Community Programs Branch of the Ontario Department of Education. Series consists of records relating to the administration of the COAA and to the association membership, accumulated by various individuals in the association. Records primarily relate to the development of the constitution and by-laws, the maintenance of membership lists for the COAA and for the association's teachers' council, and to some specific positions and committees: president, secretary, secretary-treasurer, and program committee. Series includes correspondence; membership lists; minutes of annual, executive, and teachers' council meetings (including the original minute book); the association constitution and by-laws (as well as drafts of these); reports; notebooks and handwritten notes; flyers, event programs, and exhibitors' lists; and other material. The series is not comprehensive in that not all years are equally documented and not all aspects of the association's administration and governance are represented in the records.

Philanthropy

Series consists of material relating to the philanthropic activities of Ross and Doris Dixon, and in particular their charitiable giving to the Big Brothers Association of Kitchener-Waterloo, the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University, and other charities and organizations in the Kitchener-Waterloo region and in Hamilton. Includes some material relating to the Ross and Doris Dixon Charitable Foundation and student awards and scholarships provided by the Dixons.

Also present are some accounting records for Ross Dixon Financial Services from around 1982 to 1989. Includes accounting journal pages, general ledger pages, and handwritten notes.

Ross Dixon Financial Services

Series consists of material relating to Ross Dixon Financial Services from the late 1980s to 2002.

In 1977 Ross Dixon became a local agent for a trust company and soon established Ross Dixon and Associates. [At some point in the 1980s, Ross Dixon Investments Inc. also existed.] He then sold a majority of his shares to a holding company and formed Ross Dixon Financial Services. In 1992, the holding company Canadian First Financial Group was formed and included Ross Dixon Financial Services among its subsidiaries In 2002, Dundee Wealth Management Inc. purchased all of the assets of this company.

The series is not comprehensive, but contains a small amount of material relating to ownership and administration of Ross Dixon Financial Services, the operation of franchises, and a 1998 employee conference. Includes reports, clippings, correspondence, photographs, leaflets, conference agendas and programs, handwritten notes, a speech, ephemera, and other material.

Series consists of material accumulated by Ross Dixon relating to the activities of Westmont Enterprises Limited, a holding company that Ross Dixon formed ca. 1953 for the Westmount Construction Company and other subsidiary companies as well as rental properties. One of these subidiary companies was Jasco, a manufacturer of aluminum windows and doors in Baden, Ontario.

Series consists mainly of material relating to the advertising and sale of real estate in Kitchener and Waterloo, as well as the surrounding region; and real estate and rental properties mainly in the Belmont neighbourhood. Series includes correspondence, deeds and mortgages, agreements, photographs, architectural drawings, handwritten notes, invoices, and other material.

File consists of architectural drawings prepared for the Westmount Construction Company. Includes mainly house plans but also some plans for an apartment building and several commercial buildings. Many of the drawings do not include the creator's name, but some were prepared by C.E. Voelker, N.O Hipel (Preston), J. Crebolder, and others. A small number of drawings were mass-produced (published in magazines).

Many drawings contain handwritten annotations; some are original plans and some are revisions to plans. The construction jobs for the Westmount Construction Company appear to have been classified as either "residential" or "miscellaneous" and in each category were generally assigned a Job # in chronological order. A log of jobs was kept and can be found in Series 4, File 250. There are duplicate drawings corresponding with many of the job numbers.

Westmount Construction Company

Series consists of files kept by Ross Dixon relating to the operation of the Westmount Construction Company. He formed this company ca. 1952 to build houses in the newly-developing Westmount area of Kitchener-Waterloo, hiring foremen and carpenters and contracting out the basic construction work. Doris Dixon became involved in the accounting work and other administrative aspects of the company.

The material in these files relates mainly to home-building, including construction methods and materials and exterior and interior design features. Also present are files relating to the administration and operation of the company and aspects of specific construction jobs, as well as advertising for homes built by the company.

Series includes brochures, flyers, catalogues, pricelists, advertisements, newspaper and magazine clippings, circulars, bulletins, forms and charts (including estimates, cost analysis, etc.), agreements, handwritten notes, correspondence, sketches, architectural drawings, and other material.

Series consists of material documenting aspects of Ross Dixon's career at Uniroyal (formerly the Dominion Rubber Company), where he worked from 1947 until his retirement in 1977, as Manager and then Director of Industrial Relations. Material relates to industrial relations, employee relations, management, and workplace safety as well as political and economic issuse of interest to Dixon, and other aspects of his role in the company.
