Contains newsletters issued by the Waterloo County Board of Education featuring highlights of the three regular board meetings and one special board meeting. The regular board meetings covered in these issues took place on Apr. 21, 1977, on May 28, 1981, and on Apr. 26, 1990. The special meeting took place Mar. 29, 1990. Also includes a memo addressed to all principals and staff dated Apr. 22, 1983 informing the recipients of this memo of the principal and vice principal transfers which were approved at the regular meeting of the Waterloo County Board of Education on April 21, 1983. This memo also contains a list of appointments to positions of responsibility.
This file also contains a notice and minutes relating to two separate Committee of the Whole Meetings, one of which took place on May 4, 1982 and the other on Jan. 13, 1983.

The documents for this meeting feature a special report announcing that Mary Johnston is the recipient of the W.C.W.T.A. and F.W.T.A.O. Diamond Jubilee Award and containing details of her achievements during her career. This award was given to commemorate the federation's sixtieth birthday
Also contained in this file are loose items including clippings (some duplicates) focusing on the receipt of this award by Mary Johnston. Also includes an issue of Accross the Board published by the Waterloo County Board of Education. This contains highlights of the board meeting of May 25, 1978 which includes an announcement that Mary Johnston has been awarded the F.W.T.A.O. Diamond Jubilee Award.

Contains two news clippings (Kitchener-Waterloo Record, Saturday, 7 January 1978). One of these clippings is an article reporting that the Waterloo County Women Teachers' Association will be running advertisements in newspapers to ask the public to submit names of women elementary teachers who they feel have made outstanding contributions to education. The other clipping takes the form of a nomination form to be filled out by members of the public who wish to nominate a teacher for the Diamond Jubilee Award of the F.W.T.A.O.

Two news clippings contained in this scrapbook report that Mary Johnston, principal at Keatsway Public School in Waterloo, Ont. has received the Diamond Jubilee award from the F.W.T.A.O. Other clippings report that Joan Westcott of Kitchener was acclaimed president of the F.W.T.A.O. in 1978.

Contains editorial (Kitchener-Waterloo Record, Saturday, 10 March 1979, p. 6) focusing on Bill 100 and teachers' right to strike. The author's opinion is that the teachers' use of union tactics to get higher pay may have meant that in some peoples' eyes they have lost their professional image. He/She believes, however, that they remain professionals in spite of this.

Equal-Opportunity Rights for Women Teachers.

Contains five news clippings. News clippings from 1980-1981 relate primarily to the Waterloo County Women Teachers' Association's aim to obtain a written policy guaranteeing equal-opportunity rights for women teachers from the county board of education. One clipping from 1988 reports that the receipt of a provincial award for employment equity advances by the Waterloo county board of education is an "embarrassment". Sue Coulter, a member of this board, says that this is the case because the board has failed to live up to the honour since receiving this award.
