The letter describes the history of the Spanish River Lumber Company that operated near the Sauble River, between 1882 and the 1940's, focusing on the 20th century history of the company. An article written by Harold Russell titled, “Schantz Family History: Restoration of 43 Schneider Avenue, 1994.” The article outlines the history of the Schantz Russell family home located at 43 Schneider Avenue, Kitchener, Ont. and the restoration of the house completed by Harold Russell and his wife Lynne after they moved into the home in 1994.

Posters advertising concerts held at the Village Bistro featuring a variety of artists including the Papa Bears, Chase Anderson, the Paisleys, Black Shake Blues Band, Sleepy John, Seeds of Time (later known as the Passionate Mad), Tomorrow’s Eyes, the Poppy Family, Mock Duck, Grady Moore, Black Snake, Hydroelectric Street Car, As Sherriff, the Billy Joe Bottom Band, and the Isle of Sky. One poster contains a handwritten contract on the verso transferring ownership of the Village Bistro to Allan Kirton for the sum of $2000.00. Material created or accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as an Elected Alderman representing the City of Waterloo related to an agreement made between Canadian National Realty (CNR) and the City of Waterloo on November 4, 1985. The agreement involved a land exchange and a commitment by CNR to construct a building at the corner of Regina Street and William Street in Waterloo, Ontario to house the new city hall. However, Telegdi and others contested the land sale price and were concerned about the discovery of coal tar on the construction site and later in the regional water pumping station and wells. Records include correspondence, reports, and notes.

A flyer invitation for the Kitchener-Waterloo Nomination Night held at the Transylvania Club in Kitchener, Ontario on October 19, 2000. This event was held to nominate a candidate to represent the Liberal Party in the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo in the 2000 Canadian federal election. The speaker and special guest of the event was Shelia Copps, Member of Parliament representing Hamilton East and Minister of Canadian Heritage. The flyer features a picture of Andrew Telegdi on the front and a form for individuals to submit if they wanted to participate in Telegdi’s subsequent election campaign on the back.

Material created or accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament related to Focus for Ethnic Women (FEW), an organization in the Waterloo Region that provides job training and skill development as well as counselling and information services for immigrant and visibly minority women. Records include handwritten notes, flyers and brochures outlining the organization’s mission and values, programs, and services as well as correspondence concerning the loss of work placements funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (now Employment and Social Development Canada). The report examines the housing needs of federally sentenced women following their release from Grand Valley Institution in Kitchener, Ontario. Also includes a copy of supplementary data to the report. It is not known how or why Andrew Telegdi acquired these reports.

Material created or accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament related to crime prevention in the Waterloo region. Records include documents highlighting Telegdi’s involvement with the Waterloo Region Community Safety and Crime Prevention Council such as correspondence, agendas, and invitations. Also includes news releases, information sheets, a paper titled, Agenda for a Safe Canada, an invitation to attend a crime prevention public forum at the University of Waterloo, and an agenda for a meeting of the Working Together Against Hate Crimes committee. Additionally, contains a signed letter from Harold Albrecht, then Member of Parliament for the riding of Kitchener-Conestoga, regarding youth crime rates.

Material accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his tenure as a Member of Parliament related to Grand Valley Institution for Women (GVI) in Kitchener, Ontario. Records include correspondence between Telegdi and Dianne Brown, Warden, GVI. In this correspondence, Telegdi asked Brown for information on the number of women returning to GVI with a new offence versus a suspension. In later correspondence, Brown provided Telegdi a series of appendices from a report titled, Mental Health Strategy for Women Offenders containing statistics on women prisoners related to mental health, revocations, segregations, and releases. Several appendixes provide statistical information on similar topics specifically related to Indigenous women in prison.

The file also includes an agenda and two reports possibly provided to Telegdi during a site visit to GVI in 2008. The first report provides a brief statistical overview of the facility structure, organizational chart, facility profile, facility expenditures, population profile, offender profile, escapees, and offender complaints and grievances. The second report provides a detailed description of the prison and its operational units, population, reintegration programs, correctional programs, mental health programs, education and employment programs, social programs, and Indigenous programs including Circles of Change. The report also outlines various groups and committees that offer support to women at GVI including Native Sisterhood, Black Inmates and Friends Assembly (BIFA), and the Lifers and Long-term group. Moreover, the report describes the GVI’s community partnerships, and escorted temporary absence programs.

Material created or accumulated by Andrew Telegdi during his appointment as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration related to the planning of two scheduled visits for John Manley, Minister of Industry, to the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Records include correspondence and draft itineraries.

Material accumulated by Andrew Telegdi related to the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre’s equity and inclusion fundraising dinner held in his honour. Telegdi previously served as the President of the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre and the dinner honoured his extensive contribution to the organization and the local community. The dinner was held on November 29, 2012 at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener, Ontario.
