Chatterton, Thomas : Aella: A Tragical Interlude.

File consists of one copy of Thomas Chatterton's play "Aella" along with a program from when the play was performed at Colston's School for the 200th anniversary of Chatterton's death. Chatterton attended Colston's School and wrote Aella immediately after leaving. This production was the first time it was performed, and was transcribed by Basil Cottle. File also includes ten photographs of the play being performed.

Davis, Bertram R. : Thomas Chatterton 1752-1770 A Lecture at the Opening of Chatterton House, Redcliffe.

File consists of a transcription of a lecture given by Bertram R Davis on Thomas Chatterton for the opening of Chatterton House on October 20, 1958. The transcript shows edits and changed by Davis. Also includes a portion of a revised transcript. Chatterton house has since been torn down and the commemorative plaque from the occasion has been moved to the office building now on the lot.

File consists of one print of a pastel drawing of Robert Southey, by Edward Everard. The original pastel was done by James Sharples. The print was framed and the mat reads "Robert Southey by Edward Everard after pastel by James Sharples Bristol Art Union Extra Prize, 1907." Also includes the original frame and portion of a clipping that was found with it.

Bertram R. Davis "Robert Southey" Collection.

The collection centres on Robert Southey and Bristol and gives an overview of the social, political, and literary upheaval which gave birth to the Romantic movement and shaped the rest of the nineteenth century. The collection also contains material on Spain, Portugal and Brazil, Russia and Napoleon, France and the Revolution, as well as numerous works on travel in the British Isles and elsewhere. Also present is a selection of twentieth-century works which elucidate Bertram Davis' interests, friendships, and scholarly connections.

Almost all of Robert Southey's published works are represented, and almost all of these are in the first edition. Several works were formerly owned by Robert Southey.

The University of Waterloo has published a catalogue of the collection: Catalogue of the Bertram R. Davis "Robert Southey" Collection compiled by Jane Britton (PR4467 .U55x 1990).
