Interior of John B. Fischer's butcher shop located at King Street north. Note ceiling fan, carcasses hanging and the preparation area with two unidentified butchers. Two men in suits standing on left side. John B. Fischer served as Mayor of Waterloo in 1908 and again 1912-1913.
Butcher shop opened in 1874. 1913 and 1927 Vernon Directories list an Edgar J. Fischer, Butcher in this same location.

This photograph, ca. 1900, shows a woman crossing the West side of King St. North in Waterloo. The street railway tracks are clearly visible, as are the storefronts with awnings down. The most visible sign is "J. Schondelmayer." A German flag is hanging from an upper window and store fronts appear to be decorated with greenery.

Fonds contains a notebook and records collected by Minnie O'Hara Maines from 1948 to 1971 in her capacity as a member of the Executive of the Kitchener-Waterloo Council of Friendship. There are blank forms regarding tax deductions and employment contracts for English-speaking classes, along with newspaper clippings that cover registration for and advertisements of these classes in Kitchener. The fonds also includes other promotional pamphlets and cards for the classes and for the Council in general, along with lists of winners for the Council's scholarship funds and names of contributors.

City of Kitchener memorial service for Our Late Beloved Sovereign King George V.

Program for the "City of Kitchener Memorial Service for Our Late Beloved Sovereign King George V." The services took place on Tuesday, January 28, 1936 at 10:30 am at the Zion Evangelical Church, the Lyric Theatre and the Capitol Theatre and featured performances by the Scots Fusiliers of Canada Brass Band and the Salvation Army Band.

Two business cards of Orpheus Moyer Schantz from when he was employed by Carson, Pirie & Company (now Carson, Pirie, Scott & Company). One card is professionally printed and shows the company's office, the other has been hand lettered on a small piece of painted canvas. In 1890 the company became Carson, Pirie & Scott, and in 1904 they moved to the landmark Carson, Pirie, Scott and Company Building. Now called Carson's, the company continues to be an important Chicago business.

Five hand lettered visiting cards of Jennie Moyer, Edmund Warren Moyer, Austin Schantz, and Orpheus Moyer Schantz and F.J. Ottmax. The cards of Edmund and Jennie list them as living at 3823 Langley Ave., Chicago. The card of Orpheus and F.J. Ottmax is inscribed "A Happy New Year 1889."

Five identical decal prints from the Wild Flower Preservation Society: Illinois Chapter. The decals say "Enjoy-Do Not Destroy" around the edge and the middle shows a drawing of pink blossoms. The Wild Flower Preservation Society was a branch of the Illinois Audubon Society of which Orpheus Schantz was a board member.
