In the letter Maria mentions that she has recently married John Gerrie and that they have just moved from Stratford to Hamilton. She also describes their new home in detail and compares it to the previous one.

He expresses his approval of electrical engineering as Arthur’s course of study. His Christmas gift to the family will be a sum of money to draw on through the year as needed, as well as individual sums.
