  • Flood Control and Water Conservation Advisory Board : minutes of meetings;
  • Conservation Areas Advisory Board : minutes of meetings;
  • Conservation Services Advisory Board : minutes of meetings; and

Includes newspaper clippings, including two articles by Hugh Templin (1966), ms. notes by an unidentified author concerning the development of the GRCC from 1931 to 1946, four negatives in an envelope labelled "Drayton: Conestogo river, May 22, 1952," an advance proof of a cover page of a publication titled : Flood Control in Southwestern Ontario, and a pamphlet by the Grand Valley Group of Engineers titled : A Plan to Grow Wealth and Eliminate Waste, 1936.

Grand River Conservation Authority

Ontario : Department of Public Works : agreement covering final contribution towards the Grand River conservation scheme, March 3, 1943.

Consists of a ts. (carbon copy) of an agreement issued by the Minister of Public Works concerning percentages and amounts of capital costs payable by the Province of Ontario to the Grand River Conservation Commission for the purchase of lands, erection of works and creation of reservoir. Includes a covering letter from R.A. McAllister, Deputy Minister of Public Works to the Grand River Conservation Commission, March 19, 1943. The agreement probably relates to the construction of the Shand Dam and Reservoir.

Consists of a ts.(photocopy) report prepared by Joel F. Finlay, SWEEP Coordinator, and Jane E. Allen, SWEEP Assistant Co-ordinator, for the Ministry of Natural Resources : Conservation Authorities Branch, concerning the provincial operations of Project SWEEP (Students Working in an Environmental Enhancement Program) during summer, 1972. Includes background material on the development of SWEEP, terms of reference, sample application forms, and statistical information.

Ontario : Ministry of Natural Resources : study on evolution of floodplain management.

Consists of ts. materials concerning the initation of a provincially-funded study entitled : Study on Evaluation of Floodplain Management. The study was a joint initiative of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ontario Ministry of Housing and concerned the impact of flood reduction from both a social and economic perspective. Also contains correspondence from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources including circular letters to the chairmen of Conservation Authorities in Ontario.

Consists of ts. (photocopy) decision of the Ontario Municipal Board issued on April 10, 1958 regarding an appeal of the apportionment of benefits afforded to participating municipalities by the Grand River Conservation Commission which came into effect on May 15, 1953. The appellant in the case was the Corporation of the Town of Paris; the respondents were the Grand River Conservation Commission and the Corporations of the Cities of Brantford, Kitchener, Galt and Waterloo and the Towns of Preston, Fergus and the Village of Elora

Includes a report on a tree planting machine and an Annual Report submitted to the GRCA from the Department of Lands and Forests, Lake Huron District.

The reports contain information regarding reforestation programs, wildlife management and control and maintenance of nursery stocks. Some of the annual reports from the 1970s include black and white and colour photographs of the Forestry and Wildlife Branch operations, which have been pasted or otherwise affixed to the reports.
