Most materials document the ownership history of the property consisting of Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4, and in particuar Lot 3, on the south (or west) side of Ahrens Street and the north side of Weber Street in David Weber's survey in the town of Berlin (now Kitchener); this property contained the Anthes home at 44 Weber Street and the Rieder home at 58 Roy Street.

Also present are documents relating to other land in Berlin as well as land in the Township of Wilmot, the Town of Moberly, and the District of Parry Sound. Series includes mortgages, deeds and certificates of ownership, abstracts from the Registry Office (Berlin), invoices, etc.

Accrual consists of material documenting the lives, interests, and activities of members of the Rieder and Anthes families of Berlin (later Kitchener), Ontario, with a focus on Martha (Anthes) Rieder and her family. File consists of a memorial of an indetnure of bargain and sale, by way of mortgage, concerning Lot 13 on the south side of Erb's Road in the Township of Wilmot.

Album of custom bound piano music belonging to Elizabeth Davidson, some with lyrics in both German and English, some with illustrated title pages. The volume is ¾ bound with cloth covers and gold-tooled leather lozenges pasted on both front and back covers: the front cover lozenge is red leather with "Miss E. Davidson" in gold; the back cover lozenge is dark brown leather with decorative gold tooling. The spine and corners have some gold tooling; spine has raised bands.

File consists of one photograph of a sketch of what is now Erb Street in 1853. The Seagram distillery building can be seen.

One journal kept by Colin Rankin from September 19, 1853 to September 17, 1854 during his posting to Fort Kikendatch. The journal includes ca. 25 pages of dated and undated notes, poems, transcripts and quotations, not kept in diary format.

Records related to the Ratz family, principally created or accumulated by Herbert Ratz, documenting the personal and professional lives of various Ratz family members. Records include correspondence, press clippings, genealogy research, legal documents, ephemera, academic publications, presentations and related administrative papers. The fonds also contains graphic material including photographs, technical drawings, and artifacts.

Collection consists of two prints of Sir Robert Peel and Lord Nelson. They are printed by George Baxter as an oil colour picture print, the first commercially viable colour printing.

One broadside legal document for the recapture of an enslaved woman in Memphis, Tennessee. The writ of replevin and penal bond is by Sarah A. Hawthorn, by her next friend John Hawthorn. Next friend is a legal term for someone who appears in court in place of one who is not considered competent to do so. In this case, Sarah's husband John appeared on her behalf as Sarah, being a married woman, could not bring actions in Tennessee. The writ of replevin is filed against George W. Fisher who the Hawthorns claim was illegally holding an enslaved woman named Mary An. The writ also states that if the Hawthorns are found to be unlawful in their re-capture of Mary Ann they would pay a penal bond of $1,600.

File consists of one ms. recipe book with inscription "Melora Neyle 1854" on the flyleaf. The first page lists a partial table of contents. Includes primarily ms. entries written into the book, but also includes some ms. recipes pasted in at a later date, and some pasted in clippings. Includes primarly recipes for food, but also some for health remedies and home care products. Also inset into the manuscript are pressed flowers.

Correspondence from Philip Wagner to brother Jacob Wagner. The letter discusses Philip building a house and the work that is going on on his land, as well as the dry weather and the price of crops and meat. Also included is a carte de visite full body portrait of Philip dressed in military uniform. A note on the verso indicates that he is a captain. Philip would later fight in the American Civil War.

Colquhoun as a witness. Concerns Lots 6 and 7 in Concession 1 of Block 3 on the Grand River in the Township of Woolwich in the map which was made by Robert W. Kerr of the Deputy Provincial Surveyor.

Correspondence from Heinrich Wagner to his son Jacob Wagner. The letter discusses Heinrich's health, and he entreats Jacob to disregard his own health concerns and continue to minister. As well, Heinrich makes mention of Jacob's brother Phillip Wagner and indicates that he expects a letter from him, in German, truthfully updating Heinrich on his life.

Report of expenses for the church conference. Includes expense for Sunday school, missions, glasswork and a sled for the church.

Correspondence from John Jacob Hailer to his son-in-law Jacob Wagner and daughter Margaret Hailer Wagner. The letter discusses the health of their family and local families, including an eye sickness that is going around. As well, John Jacob talks about the plight of their church and the bountiful summer crops. He ends the letter by sending greetings to new born Louis Henry Wagner and infant Catherine Wagner, and a post script indicates that Catherine Wirtz is supposed to come into a sum of money.

Correspondence from Jacob Wagner to his brother and sister in-law. The letter discusses the purchase and repairs of a store, Jacob's health, and his intention to take on an orphaned boy. Jacob asks for advice on the terms that his in-laws took in Jacob Schidrunpf. As Jacob died less than six months after this letter it is unclear if he ever took the boy on.

Records documenting the lives, activities and interests of Peter Harvey Sims and his wife Jemima Cook, of Peter's interactions with his father James Sims, mother Janet Harvey Sims, step-brother John Robertson, sister Janet McQueen, and business partners, and childhood records and young adulthood records relating to their children Harvey and Rella.
Letters from Jemima's sisters shed light on girls' and women's lives in the latter half of the 19th century, the activities available, the desolation of being socially isolated, detailed recounting of the deaths of loved ones, all interspersed with everyday news of family and friends.
In his letters to family, Peter displays an articulate and caring nature, a love of his children and family, and good sense of humour. He writes long letters; the larger the paper the larger his writing, and he never hesitates to offer Harvey advice and opinions on Harvey's actions and activities, most of which fall short of Peter's expectations. Whenever Peter and Jemima travel together or alone, Peter surveys the social, economic, cultural, architectural state of the place visited, the habits, dress and morals of the inhabitants, and its agricultural and business prospects.

One sheet recording marriages solemnized before James Sim [sic], Baptist minister, for the year ending December 31, 1858, among whose effects it was found. "Peter Sim" is listed as witness for the marriage of William Parker, age 21, and Sarah Jane Harris, age 15, both of Wellesley, that took place in Wellesley May 10, 1858.

Correspondence from Heinrich Wagner to the Breithaupt family. The letter seems to discuss the handling of an estate and the care of the children of his son Jacob Wagner (Louis Henry Wagner and Catherin Wagner) by Heinrich. He references them needing a guardian as well as payment for their upkeep. Heinrich ends the letter by noting that Mary's 4 children (Heinrich's grandchildren?) are ill with scarlet fever.

This series consists of originals and photocopies of correspondence, clippings, ephemera, essays, newspapers, photographs, etc. relating to all aspects of the history of the Seagram Company and distilling in general, to other business interests such as CanBar and Hopewell Farms, to the history of the plant site itself and the place of Seagram's in the larger context of Waterloo and the industrial history of the area from the 1850's to the plant's closing in 1990.

Notes and ephemera relating to the history of the Meyer and Bowman families that were created or accumulated by Hervey Bowman. Includes genealogy records of Meyer family members in Switzerland and in Iowa, one item of correspondence from a family member seeking copies of the information, notes on the life of E.M. Bowman, a death certificate for Henry Rudy who died in Nashville, Tennessee during the American civil war, a list of Ferguson grandchildren, a note regarding Mr. Right's fence in Woolwich, and a note certifying John Meyer as an agent of the Mutual Fire Insurance Company.

File consists of one item of correspondence from Mary B. Churchill addressed to "My dear Aunt" dated May 20, 1859. The letter details a trip to visit an ailing uncle and gives information on housework, cooking, diet and the activities of neighbours, including a mention of a Mrs. Fennimore.

Letter of guardianship appointing Jacob Hailer the legal guardian of Catherine Wagner and Louis Henry Wagner. Catherine and Louis Henry were the children of Margaret Hailer Wanger and Jacob Wagner, and were left without an appointed guardian upon the death of their father Jacob Wagner in 1858.
