Four photographs and a letter to John Gartshore Martin from his niece Ann Martin. One photograph (modern copy) depicts John Alexander Martin with his sons in uniform. In the letter, Ann asks John to identify the men and woman in the other three portraits. The woman is possibly John's maternal grandmother, Margaret (Gartshore) Wilson. One man is probably John's paternal grandfather, Rev. William M. Martin, and the other is probably John's uncle Alexander Douglas Wilson.

Material collected by John Gartshore Martin during his time in active service and kept on his person in a photograph case issued by the Canadian Active Service Force. Includes photographs of his mother, father, brothers, and fiancee Mary Ann Kabel; officer's ration cards; and clippings of wedding announcements, including one for his brother Wilson and his bride Doris. Includes one page of ms. notes containing addresses and records of the number of letters John wrote to his mother and father and to Mary Ann.
