File consists of a scrapbook kept by William John Motz with photographs and ephemera from the Canadian newspaper tour of Europe from June 6th-July 26th, 1929. The tour visited: Paris, Chester, Windsor, Versailles, The Trossachs, Amiens, Vienna, Vimy, Albert, Prague, Berlin, Brussels, The Hague, Birmingham, Ayr, Scheveningen, London, Hampton, Hever, Kenliworth, Warwick, Stratford, Chester, Wales, Blackpool, Mellrose, Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, Inversaid, Dumfries, Liverpool and others.

Press Clippings: Trip to United Kingdom.

Scrapbook relating to the trip made by nine Canadian C.W.P.C. members to the United Kingdom as the guests of the Dollar sterling Trade Board of Canada and the Dollar Export Board. Included are news clippings of coverage about the trip, as well as dispatches from the attendees, including typescript radio reports filed by Joan Marshall. Also in the scrapbook is correspondence, a photograph of an unidentified woman and a Christmas card "From the Nine Lady Journalists."

The journalists who made the trip were: Byrne Hope Saunders, Reta W. Myers, Margaret Aitken, Kay Rex, Joan Marshall, Pat Wallace, Pearl L'Ami, Maud Kerr, and Armande Marc.

Compiled by Marjorie Oliver, the scrapbook contains material on the 1954 Golden Jubilee of the Canadian Women's Press Club, followed by the overseas tour of Europe and the Continent in 1955 of 72 Club members. Includes a June 24, 1955 group portrait stamped "NATO Unclassified". Verso of photograph reads: "Members of the Canadian Women's Press Club today visited Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe. They were welcomed and briefed by General Alfred M. Gruenther, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and by other SHAPE officers."

Six photographs and one postcard from Anna Evers, Eschwege, Germany. One is a photograph of the birthplace of Henrietta Charlotte Roth, who married Charles Andrew Ahrens (2 copies). Her daughter Helena married J.M. Schneider. A postcard depicts the town of Eschwege and also included is an Evers family wedding photograph. Two snapshots of the Roth home show the plaque with the date 1835 and the name Carl Roth. Also included is a postcard of Reichensachsen, near Eschwege.

Includes the Monument aux Morts and a view of Schneider surnames on the list of the dead; the front of the Bellevue hotel and restaurant; outdoor urinals; the exteriors of the Grand Théâtre and the Galeries du Havre; and a movie poster for Le petit lord fauntleroy; and an unidentified man raising a beer in salute and then spilling it.

Film canister includes handwritten notes about film that read: "War monument - Schneiders, Harbour, Sailing boat, Street scenes, semi open toilets, Movie ad, Butcher shops, Who? spills beer, Harbour + Restaurants."

Film taken during the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Includes the opening ceremonies and the entrance of Olympic teams from Canada, Japan and Germany; the lighting of the Olympic flame in the stadium cauldron; several shots of stadium spectators with arms extended in Nazi salute; views of the Olympic grounds and environs; views of Nazi flags on display on Olympic grounds and outside of the [Reichstag?]; and multiple sporting events including: track, hurdles, polo, and water polo.

Film taken during the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Includes footage of a large scale calisthenics demonstration; Korean athlete Sohn Kee-chung, who won the marathon running gold medal while competing for Japan, speaking and signing autographs; a view of Brandenburg Gate and the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument; a partial pan of a busy Berlin street; an exterior view of Amerika Haus; various scenes shot on the Olympic Village grounds and views of buildings there, as well as athletes and delegation members walking on the grounds, practising for events, playing organized activities, and relaxing; a panoramic view of sail boats in what may be Kiel Bay; uniformed officers marching through the street; and the closing ceremonies. Extended footage of sporting events appear through out including: water polo [continued from end of Berlin #1 reel], marathon running, relay, diving (platform and springboard), and equestrian jumping.

Film taken while touring various towns in Germany including Munich, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Zugspitze, and Augsburg. Ivan Keffer appears at certain points and is likely the person filming Norman Schneider playing and digging in snow. The majority of the footage consists of scenic landscape views of mountain ranges and lakes taken from moving cards, trains and a gondola, as well as shots taken while stationary on a snow covered mountain and in town squares. Various architectural features, such as the Clock Tower and Hercules Fountain in Augsburg, are included as are shots of towns people and tourists, some dressed in lederhosen and others rock climbing.
