One photograph album kept by a member of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers documenting a Canadian west coast trip through the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. The 120 silver gelatin photographs show images of interest to the engineers including elevators, irrigation works, mines, smelting works and power plants as well as the scenery of the Rocky Mountains and local people and wildlife. Of particular note is the fact that the party contained numerous women, not all of whom were wives. The front of the album has a pastedown listing all participants in the tour and the back a pastedown listing captions for all of the images.

Five land grants from the Department of Indian Affairs granting promised Indigenous lands. The grants are made out to Benjamin Franklin Mutchmor (200 acres), Elizabeth Mutchmor (175 acres), Charles Woodward (100 acres), and Mary Rowe (100 acres). The lands granted were to be for the use of the Ojibwe and Odawa of Manitoulin Island.

Clippings cover a wide range of topics concerning the London County Council and Kensington Parliament such as meetings, motions, tax reforms, public addresses, as well as news about the law and parliamentary committees.

3. Offered to the Forum Magazine of New York for publication.

The typescript is an essay reviewing Maurice Maeterlinck's play "Blue Bird".

Carbon typescript transcript of Arthur Lang's diary prepared as a Christmas souvenir in 1907 by T.A. Lang in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. It includes a copy of a letter from one of Arthur Lang's granddaughters, giving some family background. Arthur Lang describes the sea voyage, scenery, and passengers on trip from Montreal, through the Lachine Rapids, to Prescott, Ontario. The diary also discusses Lang’s experiences inspecting land near the townships of Ramsay, Lanark, and Dalhousie in Lanark County, Ontario.

One travel diary written by an unknown person. The diary recounts a trip to France and Switzerland, with a particular emphasis on mountain climbing in the Swiss Alps. An accompanying item of correspondence addressed to George from Vivian de Sola Pinto of Nottingham University indicates that the traveler saw a woman he presumed to by Mary Shelley in Berne, possibly dating the diary to when Shelley was living in Geneva.

Account makes reference to the Spanish River Indian Reserve, Wahnapitae, Ontario, the Great Lakes Storm of 1913 and the Mississauga Timber Reserve. Also included is a business card dated July 14, 1958, for Noranda Mines Limited located in Toronto, Ontario with a handwritten note that reads: Thought this might interest you. One manuscript copy (1 vol. 299 pp.) of the 1839 edition of John Clare's "Shepherd's calendar with village stories and other poems" transcribed by G. Silverlock and presented to his son Orestes Silverlock. The text includes an introduction from "Village minstrel" as well as poems from other works by Clare. The work is written in fine calligraphy and includes a hand drawn frontispiece, title page, and publishers advertisements. Accompanying the manuscript is one item of correspondence from E. Blunden to Mrs. Wrangham discussing the text.

Collection consists of 82 plans of gravel pits in Ontario. The plans have been collected by Wayne Caston, and he was involved in consulting in many of the projects. The records in this finding aid consist of information taken from an Excel spreadsheet created by Caston with details on each of the plans. A printout of the spreadsheet is also present in the collection. Plans are listed in the order originally provided by the donor on the spreadsheet.

This collection, donated to the University of Waterloo in 1988 by the family of the late Rosa Breithaupt Hewetson Clark and Spencer Clark, includes family papers from three families, the Breithaupt family, the Hewetson family, and the Clark family; records from the Guild of All Arts in Scarborough, Ontario, founded by Rosa Breithaupt Hewetson Clark and Spencer Clark; and several smaller collections acquired by the Breithaupt family and by Spencer Clark. The personal library of Spencer Clark, which includes many books, periodicals, government documents, and ephemeral items, was donated together with the archival collections, and is particularly strong in the fields of urban planning, architecture, and Canadian art.

Photographs and ephemera in album cover the lives of the Zagar family from the early 1930s to the early 1950s. First sheets include photographs of the grandmothers, parents (Stephan and Wilma), twin oldest daughters (Rosalyn and Marilyn Ann), and youngest daughter as a baby (Margaret Ann). Rest of sheets focus on Margaret Ann and her development from early childhood to adulthood after having gotten infected with Poliomyelitis as an infant. Photographs include family pictures and celebrations, class photographs at the Gompers School for the Handicapped (located at South State St. and 123rd, Chicago), photographs of Margaret Ann's development at different stages, and photographs of family friends. The album includes 86 photographs showing Ruth and classmates at training at Hunter College in New York a well as Oklahoma A&M College; Ruth with family and friends; the USS Woodworth; and a trip to Washington. Also included in the scrapbook are three wartime ration books from members of the Peterson family, two postcards to Edwin Peterson, a Petty Officer training manual for John Peterson from 1950, a clipping regarding Ruth visiting the factory where her father worked, an invitation to a party on the USS Kearsarge (CV-33) issued only to women, an Easter card, a certificate for Beardsley from the Maryland College of Engineering in Engineering Drawing, and a transcript of a broadcast given on CBS by Eric Sevareid on the day of the truce in the Korean War. The scrapbook itself features a drawing of WAVES on the cover.

One broadside legal document for the recapture of an enslaved woman in Memphis, Tennessee. The writ of replevin and penal bond is by Sarah A. Hawthorn, by her next friend John Hawthorn. Next friend is a legal term for someone who appears in court in place of one who is not considered competent to do so. In this case, Sarah's husband John appeared on her behalf as Sarah, being a married woman, could not bring actions in Tennessee. The writ of replevin is filed against George W. Fisher who the Hawthorns claim was illegally holding an enslaved woman named Mary An. The writ also states that if the Hawthorns are found to be unlawful in their re-capture of Mary Ann they would pay a penal bond of $1,600.

Correspondence from Daniel Claus to Captain Matthews. The letter is regarding the capture of Peter Hansen and his servant as members of the rebellion by the Mohawk nation to be used to gather intelligence. The letter also mentions a contract for fresh meat, and that members of the village had been unwell. At this time Claus had been appointed deputy agent of the Six Nations in Canada under Frederick Haldimand.

The Sims family collection encompasses records of the Sims and Cook, Davidson and Garden families retained by members of the two family branches that came together when Harvey James Sims and Florence Katherine Roos married in 1902. Their Sims and Davidson forbears were equally significant in the history of the Waterloo-Wellington area and in the growth and development of agriculture, education, business and government. Harvey James Sims and Florence Katherine Roos were deeply involved in their local community of Berlin, (later Kitchener) Ontario and their own records contain significant additions to our knowledge of local personalities and affairs. Harvey was a childhood and lifelong friend of William Lyon Mackenzie King; they wrote and visited each other regularly. King's sister Bella was also a close friend of Florence from school days on.

7 p. ms. report dictated by Rear-Admiral Charles Holmes for his superiors, recounting in detail the events of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham. Major-General James Wolfe captured Quebec on Sept. 13, 1759, but died on the battlefield. His opponent, the Marquis de Montcalm died the next day. Holmes dictated a detailed account of the battle and sent two copies on separate ships to the British Admiralty. This document is the second copy of that report.

The women included in the anthology wrote between 1760-1980 and include Margaret Atwood, L.M. Montgomery, Pauline Johnson, Susanna Moodie, Mary Quayle Innis, Luella Crieghton, and others.

It does not appear that the work was ever published.
