One document on vellum: a grant of land in Hastings County, Upper Canada to Frederick Keller, heir of the original grantee, his brother David Keller, deceased, dated Feb. 10, 1835.

Fonds consists of one birth-and-baptismal certificate (Geburts-und-Taufschein) for Margareta Riehl. The certificate is written in German and is a fraktur text featuring examples of decorative calligraphy and artwork.

Collection consists of two scrapbooks maintained by William Phillips. The first includes clippings from newspapers and magazines that date from 1890 to 1914. Included are articles on topics relating to spiritualism, advertisements for mediums, and advertising for spiritualism products including the Ouija board. These materials are glued into "A History of Europe" and most clippings feature underlining of important sections.

The second scrapbook includes both clippings as well as handwritten notes from the spirit world. The notes were sent from friends and family of William Phillips including his wife Elizabeth, sister Fanny, brother John Edward and father Joseph. The notes primarily came through medium P.L.O.A. Keeler at Lily Dale. Most of the clippings are advertisements for publications relating to spiritualism and the occult.

File consists of nine puzzle picture advertisements for Barker's Powder. The advertisements were snipped from a newspaper and feature a short story with a puzzle picture. The versos show astrology charts as well as letters of recommendation for Barker's Powder.

Collection consists of seven caricature prints of "men of the day" from the British weekly magazine Vanity Fair. Includes images of Mr. R. Richardson-Gardner; Mr. Herbert Spencer; Marquis of Winchester; Admiral Sir H.R. Yelverton; Mr. Joseph Ernest Renan; The Reverend Arthur Tooth; Lord H.F. Thynne.

"This impression of the “Blue Bird” is limited to three copies on superfine linen record, typewritten and made into a book. The copies have been disposed of as follows:

2. Reserved
3. Offered to the Forum Magazine of New York for publication.
This copy is number 1., and signed this sixteenth day of February 1913. Roy M. Mitchell."

One unidentified English account book with entries from 1800-1809 for wages paid, property taxes, debts, etc.

Contains one letter from Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington addressed to Francis Fane, the 12th Earl of Westmorland.

One vellum bound manuscript cookbook of unknown origin. Cookbook features approximately 50 recipes in at least fifteen different hands. Most recipes are for desserts, although a few are for savoury dishes and household products. Some recipes are signed. Signatures include: M. Moore, Mary Dawson, and S. Lowels. Also included in the file is an index of recipes and the original seller's note.

One notebook kept by Auna Krems with passages from the Bible. The notebook is almost entirely in German with the exception of the last page which is the English lyrics to the gospel song "Room Among the Angels." It is possible that Auna was living in Austria, as the surname Krems comes from the town of the same name.

One accounts book kept by George W. Neale between the period 1850-1874. It is likely that Neale lived in the region of Loudon, New Hampshire and did business with those nearby. Others named in his account book include Newel Lovering, Luther Copp, S. Neale, Benjamin Neale, Samuel B. Lovering, Alonzo B. Lovering, Alvin S. Taylor, Isaac B. Giddings, Stephen Moore, John Messer, Warren Gleason, and Dick Rogers.

Collection consists of one undated typescript letter to Joseph Jefferson from Jan Larue in Iberia Parish, Louisiana. The letter requests Jefferson put in a good word for Larue. Also included is an undated photograph card of Joseph Jefferson, taken by Gilbert & Bacon studios in Philadelphia.

Contains one letter dated January 21, 1963 and addressed to "My Dear Jean" from Dion Calthrop Clayton regarding his book. Underneath the body of the letter is a drawing in black ink of a person blowing on a trumpet. There is also a separate, folded leaflet included with the letter titled, "In Memoriam 1881-1937". Inside the leaflet is a black and white profile shot of Calthrop.

Collection consists of 169 19th century American photographs. Included are 115 carte-de-visites, 40 cabinet portraits, 2 albums, 11 miscellaneous photographs and 1 envelope of miscellaneous business and greeting cards.

Most are albumen type photographs depicting various people including infants, children, and adults. The photographs come from various studios across the United States though the majority come from studios in New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Illinois. The photographs, since rehoused, were originally housed in two albums decorated with an intricate relief on the cover and a metal clasp lock.

Notebook containing diagrams of 84 contredanses with written annotations, circa 1780. Diagrams show the step by step movements of specific types of dances such as La Camille, Les Caprices de Chantenany, Les Cerises de Montmorenci, and Le Retour de Blanchard.

One scrapbook including photographs, newspaper clippings and other items related to the women's suffrage movement. Also includes several newsletters of the Women's Social and Political Union, which was founded by Emmeline Pankhurst. Of note are clippings regarding white slavery.

Collection consists of 13 unused postcards concerning suffragettes and women's rights. Included are photographs of Christobel Pankhurst with Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence at a demonstration in Hyde Park, one of a suffragette in prison, a portrait of Emmeline Pankhurst, and Flora Drummond protesting opposite the English House of Common. The remainder are cartoons.

Typescript play written by Royde-Smith titled "Mafro: A Comedy in Three Acts." The play is dated March 1929 and was apparently unpublished. An inscription on the cover page reads "To W. Graham Robertson from Naomi Royde-Smith."

Fonds consists of one holograph letter dated March 9, 1944 from Sackville-West to Mrs. Leslie Hotson discussing the effects of war on South-West England.

Collection consists of a binder of recipes collected from newspapers, accumulated by an unknown person. Recipes were collected from the Toronto Star, the Guelph Daily Mercury, The Guelph Shopper, and others. Many of the recipes from the Toronto Star are from Jean Brodie. Also includes a candy recipe card from the Guelph city gas department. The binder that the recipes were stored in is a directory of Guelph businesses, ca. 1960s.

Five land grants from the Department of Indian Affairs granting promised Indigenous lands. The grants are made out to Benjamin Franklin Mutchmor (200 acres), Elizabeth Mutchmor (175 acres), Charles Woodward (100 acres), and Mary Rowe (100 acres). The lands granted were to be for the use of the Ojibwe and Odawa of Manitoulin Island.

The Sims family collection encompasses records of the Sims and Cook, Davidson and Garden families retained by members of the two family branches that came together when Harvey James Sims and Florence Katherine Roos married in 1902. Their Sims and Davidson forbears were equally significant in the history of the Waterloo-Wellington area and in the growth and development of agriculture, education, business and government. Harvey James Sims and Florence Katherine Roos were deeply involved in their local community of Berlin, (later Kitchener) Ontario and their own records contain significant additions to our knowledge of local personalities and affairs. Harvey was a childhood and lifelong friend of William Lyon Mackenzie King; they wrote and visited each other regularly. King's sister Bella was also a close friend of Florence from school days on.

Two photographs on one sheet from the Sheriff's Department Los Angeles showing the booking photographs of Rose Pena Ventura. Ventura is seen in full length profile and straight on. The verso of the photograph indicates it was taken September 22, 1955 when Ventura was 32. Her aliases are listed as Rose Pena and Rose Garduna and she was arrested for the crime of abortion.

One scrapbook kept by Ruth Beardsley, a member of the United States Naval Reserve, known as WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service). The album includes 86 photographs showing Ruth and classmates at training at Hunter College in New York a well as Oklahoma A&M College; Ruth with family and friends; the USS Woodworth; and a trip to Washington. Also included in the scrapbook are three wartime ration books from members of the Peterson family, two postcards to Edwin Peterson, a Petty Officer training manual for John Peterson from 1950, a clipping regarding Ruth visiting the factory where her father worked, an invitation to a party on the USS Kearsarge (CV-33) issued only to women, an Easter card, a certificate for Beardsley from the Maryland College of Engineering in Engineering Drawing, and a transcript of a broadcast given on CBS by Eric Sevareid on the day of the truce in the Korean War. The scrapbook itself features a drawing of WAVES on the cover.

William Tutte's manuscript notebook from his time as a student at Trinity College Cambridge. Manuscript includes graphs and formulas regarding the Four colour theorem or the Four colour map theorem (considered the central problem in graph theory). Notebook includes a folder with annotations made by Tutte referring to the content and pages with his annotations divided into twelve sections.

A collection of reproduction Babylonian cuneiform tablets from originals at Penn Museum. Five of the tablets, including one with an envelope, have not yet been identified.

A collection of publications from the American Eugenics Party (AEP), a political party that campaigned in the United States in the 20th century. Relying on eugenics and scientific racism to justify their beliefs, the publications discuss the party's political platforms, as well as their feelings towards women, people with mental illness, Arab, Asian, Black and Jewish people, and "white defectives" a term used by the AEP to refer to white people who supported desegregation.

A collection of 15 issues of the first hacker newsletter, the Youth International Party's (Yippies) phone hacking ("phreaking") newsletter, the Youth International Party Line (later renamed Technological American Party, or TAP). Also includes a hand written sheet on number 5 signalling systems.

A black, white, and gold athletic tracksuit. The front left-side of the jacket has a vertical white stripe with black vinyl letter patches spelling out "WATERLOO." The tracksuit was manufactured by Darby Sportswear Co. Ltd of Paris, ON. While it is believed that this tracksuit is from the University of Waterloo, it is possible that it is associated with the Waterloo Thunderbirds, a local girls’ hockey team.

A yellow nylon jacket from the University of Waterloo likely worn by an undergraduate student. The front left side features a patch of the University of Waterloo crest and motto, while the back displays white letter patches spelling “UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO.” The sleeves are detailed with “SCI” lettering on the left and the number “67” on the right, indicating the student's program of study and year of graduation.

A teal sweater designed by Professor Emeritus Peter Ponzo for the Faculty of Mathematics that features illustrations of various animals on the front representing different groups within the faculty. Included in the illustration is a penguin representing the artificial intelligence group, a flamingo representing the Computer Science Group, beavers also representing Computer Science, as well as a python and a lion although their representation is unknown. In addition, the sweater illustration includes drawings of the Math and Computer Building, the Waterloo Crest, a Waterloo Math logo, two individuals wearing pink ties and other small details such as computers, pencils, waves, graphs, a maple leaf, and more.

These are identified on the verso as William Rutherford, his wife Mary Jane Freeborn Rutherford, his mother-in-law Jane Freeborn Rutherford and a first wife Ellen Freeborn Rutherford.

Consists of one group photograph of a construction crew, purportedly for Bridgeport School. They are posed with a sign: "John V. Gray Construction Co. Ltd, General Contractors, head office Toronto ...."

One photograph album owned by Percy S. Keeting (1918-1963) with 120 photographs of daily life in Britain including trips to Isle of Man, Scotland, and Wales.

The inclusion of photos pre-dating Keeting's birth in 1914 and his parents marriage in 1906, suggests the album may have been made by Keeting's mother, Florence Mary (nee Vickers), or an aunt. Annotations appear in two hands. The first is that of the creator, and the second is possibly that of Keeting's sister Florence Mary "Billie" or a cousin who seemingly left "daft" comments next to photos in which they appear.

Annotations included by the creator of the album appear throughout identifying locations and dates. Names appear only occasionally and include Norman [Keeting?]; Adeline, Dorothy/Dot, [Billie] or [Pollie], Stewart [Keeting], Kathleen, and Annie.

File consists of one panoramic photograph of the Western Ontario Regiment doing training at Carling Heights in London, Ontario.

File consists of one mounted handkerchief showing a portrait of King George V in military dress [possibly wearing the Order of the Medjidie]. The portrait is surrounded in each corner by images of the Royal Dragoons, Gordon Highlanders, Bengal Lancers and Irish Guards and a border of flags, British, French, Russian, Russian Imperial, Belgian, and one unknown flag [possibly Serbian?].

One item of correspondence from Lincoln Steffens to Mr. [Humphries?]. The letter is dated April 1, 1932 and discusses where articles by Steffens were published.

Collection consists of five advertisements for Lanteen diaphragms and spermicidal jelly. The advertisements each feature a "curiosa of conception" which includes a fact about conception or childbirth with accompanying woodcut illustrations by Uruguayan-American visual artist Antonio Frasconi. Number of advertisements in series unknown. Those present in collection are: 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

File consists of one letter from Christian Enslin, bookseller and bookbinder, Waterloo, Ontario to Fredrick Heinitsch, M.D., Lancaster, Pennsylvania requesting the right to "Mother Drops", a medicine created by Dr. Heinitsch on which he held the patent.
The letter also includes information on bookbinding and printing practices in Upper Canada and makes reference to local figures such as Benjamin Eby, Bishop of the Mennonites.

Fonds consists of one charcoal drawing by Arthur Lismer of Elizabeth Styring Nutt of Halifax. Elizabeth was principal of the Victoria School of Art and Design in Halifax (later NSCAD) in the period immediately following Lismer's time there.

Manuscript poem that was found in "Poems: Songs and Sonnets" by Hartley Coleridge (1796-1849). The poem is written in an unknown hand and the title reads "Lines (unpublished) written to a friend after a discussion on [points] of faith - by Hartley Coleridge."

Sketchbook belonging to Helen Edmonds, dated July 1991, containing sketches in the style of Virgil Burnett. Most sketches are drawn with brown ink and feature people, landscapes, buildings, and sculptures. The sketchbook also includes watercolour sketches accompanied by notes and quotations.

Two letters thanking Thompson Waldo for providing a copy of his book, "Swampscott: historical sketches of the town". One letter is from C.B. Tillinghast, Acting Librarian at Boston, dated August 18, 1884 and the other is from Howard B. Nicholson, a librarian at Bodleian at the University of Oxford, dated November 19, 1889.

Collection consists of three manuscript German prayer books dating from 1783 to the late 19th century. Each book contains a series of prayers such as communion, confession, morning, and evening prayers, in addition to examples of Fraktur (folk) art in ink and watercolour.

Carbon typescript transcript of Arthur Lang's diary prepared as a Christmas souvenir in 1907 by T.A. Lang in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. It includes a copy of a letter from one of Arthur Lang's granddaughters, giving some family background. Arthur Lang describes the sea voyage, scenery, and passengers on trip from Montreal, through the Lachine Rapids, to Prescott, Ontario. The diary also discusses Lang’s experiences inspecting land near the townships of Ramsay, Lanark, and Dalhousie in Lanark County, Ontario.

Account book kept by William Henderson during the period 1841-1880. Some personal diary entries are also written, including a reference to William's 74th birthday and losing his sister's spectacles. William Henderson likely lived in Dover, New Hampshire and makes references to the Piscataque RIver, Wolfeboro New Hampshire, and Nottingham New Hampshire.

Collection consists of two plaques. One of is oval shaped with text that reads "Whaler Sailing 2nd Town of Dartmouth incorporated 1873 Bicentenary". The back of the plaque has an inscription stating it was made by the Atlantic Pattern Works. The second is a rectangular plaque with a metal etched portrait of a man in a suit and tie. On the back is a clipping that depicts the same image as on the front of with the name "Fred A. Hodgson" underneath.

File consists of photocopies purchased from the National Archives of Canada of a single volume described as "Waterloo County real estate transactions 1897-1910". The transactions consist of deeds and mortgages dated 1901-1910, with an index, relating primarily to parcels of land in Berlin [i.e. Kitchener], Ontario.

Collection consists of seven legal documents regarding the sale of land in the Township of Dumfries in Southern Ontario.

Three items of correspondence addressed to George Charles Williamson. The first is from Charles Walter Berry (of Berry Bros. & Rudd Wine and Spirit Merchants) and discusses Charles sending a bottle of Tokay for Williamson's wife and the fact that Charles read Williamson's article "Behind my Library Door" in the Spectator. The second and third are from the same unknown correspondent and mentions an article on wine and Monastic cellars.

One unfolded and uncut printing of Fireside Conversations in the Time of Queen Elizabeth, or '1601' a fragment by Mark Twain. This was privately printed in 1920.

Collection of coins ranging from the Persian Empire of the 6th century BCE to 19th century Britain. The coins reflect the development of the monetary systems, art, religion and shifting borders of the world. Also included are a coin weight and various electrotype coin reproductions.

Materials created or accumulated by Bettie Bernice Wilson and related to her years in the Royal Canadian Air Force Women's Division (1942-1945). Includes photographs of instruction and training sessions, of facilities, of graduating classes, and of Wilson and her colleagues; official documentation and ephemera related to Wilson's service and different events she attended; writings by Wilson and her colleagues; related newspaper clippings, and correspondence sent and received by Wilson.
