The photograph consists of four separate shots of Ruth in different poses that have been developed together as one photograph and mounted on a large board around which Carrie Flagler Schantz has painted pink flowers. The mount is dated September 30, 1899 and includes two lines from the poem, Seven Times One by Jean Ingelow: “I've said my seven times over and over; Seven times one are seven.”

The enclosed 6 pages were John Herbert's beginning of a comic-book project (under the name 'Jack Past') based on his memories of working with a carnival burlesque show (Model Shows' 'Paris After Midnight') in 1953, travelling through Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (over a 6 months period)."
